As a supporter of Audubon North Carolina, I’m sure you love our birds and understand what important indictors they are for the health of our environment. Like me, you want your children, and your grandchildren, to inherit a world full of bird song. Half of the birds in North America are seriously threatened by our changing temperatures and precipitation. Nearly 170 species that breed, nest, migrate or winter in North Carolina are among those at risk. Brown-headed Nuthatches, American Oystercatchers, Golden-winged Warblers and hundreds of other species will be threatened or endangered in our children's lifetime. You can help these birds survive by supporting our programs right here in North Carolina.
Thanks to your support Audubon has become the leading conservation organization addressing these challenges. Through sound science and partnerships with state and federal agencies, conservation organizations, and hunting and gardening groups, we are preserving and protecting important bird strongholds. Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 by December 31, 2016 to further the work needed to protect North Carolina’s birds in the coming year. I hope that we can count on your continued support. |
