A Year of Conservation Success With Important Bird Areas
From special nestboxes for priority species, to 41 conservation “mini-plans,” to new field volunteers and publications, Arizona’s Important Bird Area (IBA) program has racked up big wins recently. The IBA program partners with eight Audubon chapters, plus diverse land owners and management agencies. IBAs’ objective:   keep crucial habitats healthy and resilient for bird populations by compiling data on each site, which informs and guides land use and conservation strategies.

Once a site is designated as an IBA, the conservation work begins. Click here to support these IBA initiatives.

Camp Audubon Adventures 2018
After two months of educational nature exploration, Camp Audubon Adventures 2018 has wrapped up its summer camp season. Campers learned about Sonoran desert wildlife, immersed themselves in riparian systems, practiced archery at Mingus Mountain, and went on bird walks and other ecological adventures.

Audubon Arizona is extremely grateful for our sponsors who made this summer camp the best one yet:

Enchanted Trail | Sendero Encantado
Mark your calendars for October 5 and 6 for Audubon’s 9th annual Enchanted Trail! The bilingual “nature by night” fall festival teaches children and adults about nature, science, and Arizona's nocturnal wildlife through a scavenger hunt and other fun activities. Learn more about the festival.

Lecture Series Kickoff:  Desert Rivers’ Sense of Place/Sense of Sound

Audubon Arizona will launch a special lecture series for the Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Chorale on Tues., Sept. 11: “Our Desert Rivers Heritage – A  Rich Legacy of Place and Sound” will be presented in a new collaboration between the two organizations. This will be the first of four pre-concert series lectures that weave together cultural, musical, and natural history as inspirational preludes to choral artistry throughout the 2018-19 season of singing. The event is free and open to the public, starting at 6:00 p.m. Presenters will be Audubon Arizona colleagues Dr. George A. Martinez and Haley Paul. Click here for more information.
