Looking Back...
As this email finds its way to your inbox, snow is slowly piling up outside, bringing with it an extra layer of quiet that is perfect for reflection. As 2020 draws to a close, we hope you’ll join us in taking a few moments to look back on all that you have achieved, overcome, managed, learned, and celebrated.

You are a resilient bunch for sure and we have been amazed at the sheer magnitude of time and effort you’ve spent this year adapting all that you do to meet the needs of a seemingly endless barrage of obstacles and heartache. You’ve met these challenges with dedication, humility, and the positive, can-do attitudes that are so essential to progress.

As we look ahead to brighter days and new opportunities, let us say thank you again. Thank you for all you do for the birds, for each other, and for Audubon. You are invaluable and it is truly our good fortune to work alongside each and every one of you.

All our best,
Kelly & Val

Tis the Season for Community Science
As your chapters get underway with the Christmas Bird Count this month and Climate Watch next month, we’re also looking ahead to the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) in February. The GBBC affords a wide range of opportunities to connect with your current membership, while also engaging new audiences. To that end, we’re creating some new tools that will be coming your way in January. Read on to see how you can help.

Wanted: GBBC Photos
We’re creating a new “GBBC 101” video for 2021 to help you recruit new participants to join the fun. We’re aiming to include photos from past GBBCs to showcase how easy it is to get involved. Send us your favorite photos of GBBC activities including watching birds, filling out checklists, consulting field guides, etc. Be sure to include appropriate credits for each photo.

Send photos to Kelly.McGinley@audubon.org by December 31st.

Wanted: Hosts for GBBC Live
This year, we’re adding a new, online element to the GBBC. Since most folks won’t be able to get together in person, we’re presenting a GBBC Live segment each morning of the GBBC. We’ll have a different host every half hour to help participants identify birds, sign up for eBird, fill out their checklist, or just chat with a fellow bird nerd!

Let us know if you would like to represent your chapter. You can view the available time slots here. For more information, email Kelly.
