What’s in the Strawberry Mansion Reservoir at the Discovery Center

Visit Audubon on Saturday December 6th from 10:00am until 12:00pm as we look back at all of the data our volunteers have collected and chat about what will take place in the future! Refreshments will be available, as well as tools for viewing our microscopic critters. We'll end the session with a bird walk around the reservoir. Try our rotating activities of testing water chemistry, exploring micro-invertebrates, macroinvertebrate sampling during warmer weather, and observing the waterfowl that visit throughout the year (3 to 4 activities per event). More information available here.

When the Birdsong Ceased: Exploring Early Transatlantic Bird Preservation at the John James Audubon Center

Join us on Sunday, November 23rd from 10:00am until 11:30am for a in-depth lecture by Dr. Bethany Dahlstrom that explores the parallel origins of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (founded as two women’s societies in Manchester and Croydon in 1889) and the Audubon Society (revitalized in Boston in 1896 by Harriet Hemenway and Minna B. Hall), showing how these powerful women reframed bird protection as both a political act and a spiritual duty. Tea and biscuits will be served during the lecture, and registration is highly recommended. More information and registration on our website.

Holidays Are For the Birds! Workshop at the John James Audubon Center

Visit Audubon for this festive workshop on Saturday, December 6th from 11:00am until 1:00pm. We’ll make a bird-friendly ornament to take home and hang outside for feathered friends such as Blue Jays, Northern Cardinals, and Black-Capped Chickadees. These year-round residents will appreciate the winter snack and it’s a great way to get to know the birds in your community! All supplies and light refreshments provided – please register on our website.
