The Gila River
A Win for the Gila!
On June 18th, the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, responsible for authorizing funds for the Environmental Impact Statement process, voted not to continue supporting the EIS for a diversion, ending state involvement in the project and potentially ending the project’s prospects permanently.

#Because of Black Birders Week
Live-streamed discussions took place for a week in early June in which participants highlighted their joy of birding, the work they do, and the racism they have experienced. Organizers, from the group BlackAFinSTEM, have asked for responses to be shared on their social media through the hashtag #BecauseOfBlackBirdersWeek. Audubon New Mexico staff take part with the following replies.
