Kick off 2021 Right!
As the month and year change, it is also time to choose the path on which to travel for the new year. At the Pascagoula River Audubon Center, all paths lead to a better you filled with the beauty of nature and opportunities to nurture yourself.

On Saturday, January 2, PRAC will open at 8 a.m. for Nature and Nurture New Year. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of your own backyard and find time to take care of yourself.

At 8 and 10 a.m., Claire Faccini will lead Yoga sessions for $10 per person.  Space per session is limited, so reservations are required.  Reserve your spot at prac.ecwid.com.

At 9 and 11 a.m., Katie will be offering birding and native plant tours of the 10-acre site.  These tours are free, but donations are welcome.  PRAC has eight pairs of binoculars that can be borrowed, so you may want to bring your own.

Wanda Norton will lead a class on using natural products to create arrangements and other items to be used around the house.  This class is at noon in Dixie’s Perch and has no admission.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., one-hour kayak rentals begin and are $5 for a single and $10 for a tandem.  Member kayak rentals are FREE.

So as the last days of 2020 wind down, decide which path to take for 2021.
Memorial Tree Benefit
In response to Harry McDonald encouraging friends and family to plant a tree in memory of his late wife, Jacquelyn Ann Greenough McDonald, the Pascagoula River Audubon Center sponsored a benefit raffle to purchase trees.

Raffle tickets were sold for a little over a week, and more than $600 was raised.  In the spring, trees will be planted at PRAC and other areas around the community, and a permanent marker will be placed on the grounds at the Center in memory of Mrs. Jackie.

Special thanks to all who donated to this benefit.  The winner of the driftwood tree was Linda Walsh and the winner of the pinecone tree was Joe May.
Consider Audubon as your Event Venue for 2021
Do you have special events to celebrate this year? Whether you are looking for space for a wedding, reception, shower, birthday party or retirement celebration, the grounds of the Pascagoula River Audubon Center are a great option.

Affordable and convenient, rentals of the facilities at PRAC begin at $100 per hour and can include the art gallery, catering kitchen, river room, Dixie’s Perch and all outside space. Two weddings and a shower are already on the schedule for the first quarter, and the calendar fills quickly.

Anyone interested in discussing rental options should complete THIS interest form or email us at prac@audubon.org.
Our Flock is Growing!
The Pascagoula River Audubon Center relies on contributions from local households and businesses to keep its doors open.  With half of the 2021 fiscal year behind us, we would like to acknowledge our Q1 and Q2 contributors and those who support us annually.

It’s not too late to join the flock!  Your donation can be in the form of a membership, operations donation or memorial donation. Audubon’s fiscal year ends on June 30.

Your contribution may be made electronically HERE by clicking on Donate or Membership in the upper right hand corner.  Donations may also be sent via mail to 5107 Arthur Street, Moss Point, MS 39563.

On the Road...Again!
Thanks to a donation from Enhanced Environmental and Emergency Services, E3 Environmental, PRAC has a brand new trailer for acquiring native plants from area growers and for hosting pop-up sales in communities along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The 12-foot trailer will be decked out with the PRAC logo along with that of E3. Special thanks go to Chris Garcia from E3 and advisory committee member Brian McVey for making this happen!
