“As an office of the National Audubon Society and with 27 local chapters throughout the state, Audubon New York is part of the most effective conservation network in the country. My role is to help make sure that our conservation programs have a solid foundation of science and, as a result, I was privileged to help communicate cutting-edge forestry techniques to the owners and managers of more than 7 million acres of forests this past year, to enable management that improves forests for priority bird species.”
-Michael Burger, Ph.D.
Director of Conservation and Science
Audubon New York Office at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology Conservation and Science Program
Audubon New York's mission is more urgent today than ever before. Natural habitat and open spaces are disappearing at an alarming rate. Protections for wildlife, natural places, and clean air and water are in jeopardy. By protecting birds, we’re also safeguarding New York's great natural heritage for future generations, preserving our shared quality of life and fostering a healthier environment for us all. Audubon NY's conservation priorities are shaped by the state's position along the Atlantic Flyway. The Atlantic Flyway encompasses some of the hemisphere's most productive ecosystems. Forty percent of the Atlantic Flyway's bird species are species of conservation need.
Please consider making your bird-saving gift by December 31st as we soar towards our year-end fundraising goal of $20,000. Thank you for your support!
