Learn about owls at After Hours
Learn about the owls who call Florida home at a presentation by Jerry Jackson this Friday evening (November 8) at our second After Hours event of the season. After Hours starts at 5:30 p.m. - when the doors usually close at Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary - and runs until 9 p.m., offering a rare chance to stroll on the boardwalk through the swamp under the stars.

Dr. Jackson is a Corkscrew volunteer, retired Florida Gulf Coast University professor and host of "With the Wild Things" on WGCU.  After Hours also features live music, and interpretive stations where you can learn how nocturnal creatures thrive at night and take part in a night vision experiment. There’s no additional charge for After Hours activities beyond the regular $14 boardwalk admission for adults. After Hours events are free for children 18. Read more

Corkscrew’s Stilwells are Audubon Florida’s top volunteers
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Volunteers Sharon and Dick Stilwell have been named Audubon Florida Volunteers of the Year for 2019. The honor was announced October 25 during the annual Audubon Assembly in Gainesville. It’s the second year in a row the honor has gone to a Corkscrew volunteer.

Meet Corkscrew’s ambassador snake on Veteran’s Day
Come meet Candy Corn, Corkscrew’s ambassador Eastern Corn Snake, at a special holiday talk about Florida’s non-venomous snakes. Boardwalk Naturalist Murray Barnhart will discuss the many benefits of snakes. The audience will have a chance to touch Candy Corn and take photographs. The talk starts at noon inside the Discovery Center in the Blair Audubon Visitor Center.

Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary
Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary comprises 13,000 acres of sensitive land owned and protected by the National Audubon Society since 1954. Its renowned 2.25-mile boardwalk winds through the world's largest remaining Bald Cypress forest. Corkscrew is Southwest Florida's premier outdoor environmental learning center, a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance, a Society of Wetland Scientists Wetland of Distinction, an Important Birding Area and a gateway to the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail.

The Sanctuary is located just northeast of Naples, 15 miles from I-75 off Immokalee Road (Exit 111).
