Coming up, Beidler's BIGGEST FREE Second Saturday!
Dear {{FirstName or 'Friend'}},

In celebration of World Migratory Bird Day, we hope you’ll join us for Beidler’s Biggest Second Saturday event from 9am-4pm on May 14th! Like all our “Second Saturdays” throughout the year, there will be FREE ADMISSION to the forest. But May 14th will be extra special, as we’ll be providing free programming throughout the day, including a Prothonotary Warbler banding demonstration, two bird and nature walks, fun activities for children (and adults), raffles throughout the day and much more. Miracles Tasty Express food truck will be at Beidler from 10am – 2pm! You won’t want to miss it!

While this is a free event, we do ask that you register in advance here. If a program you would like to attend is sold out, try again a few days before the event. Parking is limited, so please consider carpooling. We can’t wait to celebrate spring in the swamp with you!

Congratulations to Shannon for guessing March 25th, the 2022 first-sighting date of Prothonotary Warblers at Beidler Forest! If you haven’t been out to Beidler to see Prothonotary Warblers, now is the time to make a trip. The breeding season is in full swing and there are many nests close to the boardwalk. Pre-register your visit to the boardwalk here or come out for our FREE Biggest Second Saturday on 5/14

Otter with head sticking up out of the water
Otters are still out and about!
This winter and spring continue to be particularly great for seeing this often secretive mammal along the boardwalk at Beidler. What’s the trick for spotting them? Use both your eyes and ears when searching for otters. Big ripples are one sign, but the sounds of snorting (otters exhaling as they come up for air), gruff barking and chirping, or even their loud eating can let you know there’s an otter nearby. If you’re quiet enough, they might not notice you right away. So stay alert the next time you visit and maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of this magnificent creature!
