The Wind River BioBlitz
There was a magic to the Wind River BioBlitz last June. We gathered at the Wind River Reservation to document how buffalo reintroduced by Tribal Buffalo Initiative are reshaping biodiversity there. But there was more to it than that. Yes, we found 211 species, but we also learned about the history of the Wind River Reservation and its people, made new friendships, and saw an inspiring example of Indigenous-led conservation. Now, we’d like to share it with you. Read more

Volunteering Beyond the Stream
Make an impact on river systems—and birds—on the ground. Volunteers are needed for a variety of river restoration projects in Colorado now through October. Our recent blog highlights opportunities supporting birds and healthy rivers in key categories: watershed health, riparian restoration, stream and wet meadow restoration, and bilingual-focused volunteer opportunities.

Audubon Rockies and Anderson Ranch Arts Center Kick Off Aspen Summer of Birds
In early June, we partnered with Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado, to offer “Wildlife Wonder,” a workshop for 6- to 8-year-olds. This workshop focused on birds and art as part of Aspen Summer of Birds, a slate of programming organized by the National Audubon Society and The Birdsong Project with local organizations and festivals. As the first program in the lineup, this workshop kicked off Aspen Summer of Birds by helping young people learn about nature through creative expression.

Bird Migration in the Rockies
Believe it or not, fall migration is not months or weeks away. It is happening right now! Enjoy it to the fullest with identification tips, recommended birding hotspots, and other resources.

Tour an Audubon Certified Ranch
The plains and canyons of Southeast Colorado offer unique historical, cultural, and natural wonders. Reefs to the Rockies has partnered with two Audubon-certified ranches to offer a four-day excursion of these beautiful, remote landscapes. This trip is timed to maximize opportunities to observe a diversity of Southern Great Plains icons including bison, Burrowing Owls, black-tailed prairie dogs, swift fox, coyote, and pronghorn, as well as the famed ‘tarantula migration’.
