Dear Audubon Advocate,
Farmers, ranchers, and foresters are vital in the fight against climate change. A new bill in the works—the Growing Climate Solutions Act—would be a first step in giving them the resources and know-how to support common-sense conservation on their lands.
A bipartisan group of senators is planning to introduce this important climate legislation in the very near future, and we believe YOUR U.S. Senators are considering joining them as original cosponsors, especially if they hear from constituents like you.
Please take a few minutes to ask your senators to cosponsor the Growing Climate Solutions Act when it is introduced. The bill will help to create a cleaner future for both people and wildlife, while also helping rural economies recover from the COVID-19 crisis.
Everybody wins when we work together for our common survival. The Growing Climate Solutions Act would provide technical assistance for the agriculture and forestry sectors to reduce air pollution and remove carbon from the atmosphere through natural processes, such as storing it in the soil. It would establish a set of nationwide protocols and standards that will help farmers, ranchers, and private forest landowners adopt sustainable management practices like planting cover crops, prescribed grazing, and reforestation. These practices preserve and restore habitat for birds and serve as natural solutions to reducing greenhouse gas pollution.
Audubon’s own science shows that two-thirds of North American bird species at risk of extinction due to our warming planet. Birds are telling us there is no time to lose to take action on climate and conservation.
Let your senators know that you support bipartisan efforts to address climate change like the Growing Climate Solutions Act.
