New Federal Rule Would Reduce Protections for Water in the West
The revised Waters of the United States rule would harm people and birds.

At Audubon, we know the value that wetlands, rivers, lakes, and streams provide to birds. These waterways are critical habitat for the lifecycle of millions of birds, not to mention the millions of people who rely on clean water to drink, bathe, wash, and grow our food.

In the Southwest, waterways that only flow seasonally support abundant bird life – but would lose their protection under the revised rule.

Read more, and take action to protect our waterways.

Audubon Arizona in the News
The Rio Salado Audubon Center's plants for birds planter shows off tons of native plants currently in bloom, from the bright yellow Desert Marigold to fiery orange Chuparosa.
Spring's Super Blooms for Birds
Have you noticed the color in the desert? Like the slopes of South Mountain, the Rio Salado Audubon Center is undergoing its own mini-superbloom as the recent precipitation takes effect on Arizona’s wildflowers.

The blooms of native plants don’t just make for a stunning view– they benefit birds and all types of pollinators, from Anna’s Hummingbirds and Gambel’s Quails, to carpenter bees and Monarch butterflies.

It’s not too late to add some color to your yard and help your local birds – check out our Native Plants for Birds database to find the best plants for you and where to get them.
