Finding the Yuma Ridgway's Rail
The Yuma Ridgway’s Rail is a secretive and vulnerable bird which many people may never see– not only because of its clandestine nature, but because its habitat is rapidly disappearing.

Thanks to the Arthur L. and Elaine V. Johnson Foundation and Sonoran Join Venture, Audubon's project to protect the marsh bird is underway. Audubon Arizona staff, with our Mackenzie and Dangermond fellows, are working to find the rail, create a snapshot of its habitat, and develop a data-driven action plan to protect it. Read more about the bird and our project.

Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch in 2018
The ranch wrapped up a productive year with new Apacheria Research fellows, native sacaton flat restoration, Chiricahua Leopard Frog habitat improvements, Potluck and Presentations, and more. Read more about their year’s wrap-up.

The ranch is also hosting a raffle in collaboration with the Iain Nicholson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary for tickets to their famous Sandhill Crane experience! More information here.
