Prioritizing Water Security for Arizona's Birds and People
As of January 1, 2020, the Lower Colorado River Basin entered a Tier Zero shortage at Lake Mead. Thanks to the negotiated agreements of the Drought Contingency Plan, Arizona will receive less Colorado River water this year, marking the first time a mandatory reduction has been imposed.

With these water reductions officially underway, Audubon is looking ahead to what is next, with our focus on prioritizing water security for all of us in Arizona, including our birds and wildlife. We have identified three water policy priorities as we enter the 2020 Legislative Session—read about them here.

Join us in advancing a better water future for people and birds by signing up for the Western Rivers Action Network.

Great Backyard Bird Count
The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a great community scientist project to participate in with your family and friends. Launched as the first online community science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real-time, the count relies on every level of birder to contribute– from beginners to experts.

We invite you to participate in the GBBC between February 14 and 17. For at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the count, simply tally the numbers and kinds of birds you see, and submit your list to eBird. You can count from any location, with whoever you like, for as long as you wish! Learn more and get involved.
